Description

Cisco WS-X4748-RJ45-E is a high-density Gigabit Ethernet line card module used in Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis switches. It offers 48 × 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports with non-blocking performance (1:1 wire rate), making it ideal for connecting a large number of end devices such as PCs, IP phones, and access points in enterprise networks.

This module operates primarily at Layer 2 with support for VLANs, trunking, QoS, security features, and advanced traffic management. It can also support Layer 3 features (depending on supervisor engine), enabling routing and scalable network design.

Designed for modular Catalyst 4500 platforms, it is hot-swappable and integrates with redundant power and supervisor engines for high availability. It is commonly deployed in campus access layers, aggregation environments, and large enterprise networks where high port density and reliable Gigabit connectivity are required.
